About Us

The Dorset Difference

At Dorset Primary School, our students and staff strive to inspire, achieve, and succeed. We aim to nurture lifelong learners who are responsible, resilient, and confident individuals. Every student is supported by a team of experienced and dedicated educators.

We prioritise building and maintaining strong relationships founded on trust and respect. Student voice is encouraged through various leadership opportunities, a Junior School Council, and lunchtime clubs. These clubs are designed to reflect student interests and include options such as choir and art club, among many others. Additionally, our Breakfast Club operates every morning before school, providing a welcoming start to the day.

Staff at Dorset Primary School are highly trained in Restorative Practices, and we provide comprehensive mental health support for students. Students also participate in age-appropriate social-emotional learning programs designed to develop their personal and interpersonal skills.

Our school features outstanding facilities, including a full-size synthetic football/soccer oval complete with an athletics running track, a basketball court, and a high-capacity indoor gymnasium. We also have purpose-built play areas tailored to different year levels, such as Foundation, Year 1/2, Year 3/4, and Year 5/6 playgrounds, along with a Peace Garden and a Sanctuary for quiet reflection and connection.

Starting in Year 3, students take part in the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program, actively engaging in growing, cultivating, and maintaining our produce gardens.

Our specialist program includes:

  • Health and Physical Education
  • Performing Arts
  • Italian
  • Science
  • Digital Technologies
  • Visual Arts
